New cardboard packaging from UT Tray Black in Norway

These fruits no longer need plastic

Norwegian grower Austein Gård is now offering its strawberries in a new cardboard packaging, made of UT Tray Black. According to the company, it completely replaces the previously used plastic containers, at the same time being a POS eye-catcher. The packaging is manufactured by Norstamp Label & Emballasje, UT Tray Black comes from MM Karton, reports VerpackungsRundschau.

Red on black as an eye-catcher
The new packaging design takes the form of a fruit basket, the traditional way of packaging fruits. With its black front and brown back, there is a stark contrast between black cardboard and red strawberries. This makes it an eye-catcher at the point of sale. The brown back is to emphasize the natural character of the packaged fruits and is printed in the colors of the Norwegian flag.

Since fruits release moisture and are usually washed before packaging, dimensional stability under wet conditions is crucial. Due to a special sizing, UT Tray Black is water repellent according to its manufacturer and keeps its stable shape.
