“I think most people could build this greenhouse”

In Novo, Ohio, Doug and Katy Kern grow lettuce, Asian greens, arugula, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers in a greenhouse that they built themselves. According to Doug, assembling the CropKing greenhouse was relatively easy. “I think most people could build this greenhouse. We really didn’t want to hire a bunch of contractors to come in. With the package that CropKing had put together, it was something we could do on our own, which made a lot of sense for us and helped keep costs down.”

They sell to a local CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture) and at a farmers market. Katy says she likes to trial new crops now and then. “The farmers market is a great opportunity to get feedback on the products that we have. We have a lot of repeat customers that try stuff that I trial and let me know what they think about it”, she says.
