Greenhouse strawberry harvest season in Crimea

The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Mr. Andrey Ryumshin has announced the start of the strawberry harvest season.

“One of the biggest enterprises in the Crimea, LLC Yagodnaya Polyana, has already collected the first crops, 50 kilos of tasty Crimean strawberries. The harvest has begun in Leninsky region too, in the village of Bagerovo”, noted the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.

LLC Yagodnaya Polyana have reported that the first batch of strawberries will be delivered to trade chains next week. According to the general manager of the LLC Yagodnaya Polyana, Mr. Sergey Yastreb, the enterprise has been operational since 2013, growing the Clery variety of strawberries on an acreage of five hectares, producing 25 tons per ha per season.

“In 2019 the growers are planning to harvest up to 250 tons of strawberries. LLC Sladkaya klubnika is a leader in the Russian Federation in terms of strawberry growing in non-heated greenhouses. In 2018, they planted 11 ha of strawberries and this year have increased the acreage by one hectare. The harvest season will last two months”, commented Mr. Andrey Ryumshin.
