Growing in -20 cold and 40 degree heat: indoor agriculture makes it possible

Growing vegetables in a region like Ladakh (India) with a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius is impossible. However, scientists at DRDO in Leh-Ladakh are working on the vegetation in the freezing temperatures, using greenhouse technology, India Today reports.

 

Elsewhere, in Abu Dhabi, temperatures are 60 degrees higher. There, a project pairs old shipping containers and high-tech hydroponics to overcome the region’s hostile climate and increase local food production. Read more about that project at The European Sting.
