Belarus: How cucumbers are grown in winter

These days the agricultural complex Zhdanovichi produces almost everything: from meat and milk to pickles.

The grower even breeds bumblebees here. Tomatoes, eggplants and cucumbers produced locally keep reaching the customers even in winter.

Ms. Nadezhda Ruban, the head of the greenhouse Bogatyryovo, shared that the cucumbers and all vegetable produce are grown using hydroponics. All the substances required for plants growth are supplied via computer-controlled drip irrigation. Special tests are carried out, which show what cucumbers are missing in terms of nutrients. Consequently, the required corrections are made.
