The innovation of greenhouse technology is ongoing so, for the 2019 edition, Macfrut has organised a fair within the fair.
"The Greenhouse Technology Village is an area at the East entrance to the pavilions destined for producers of technology, materials and technical means as well as seed companies and specialized nurseries," explained Macfrut president Renzo Piraccini.

"We'd like this project to go beyond the fair by setting up a Permanent demonstration center for greenhouse cultivation." The project was presented on 27th November 2018 in Cesena to numerous entrepreneurs, technicians, producers and operators.
"We'd like Greenhouse Technology Village to become a point of reference for the entire sector. In Europe, there is something similar only in the Netherlands. It will be a highly specialized area that will display the latest introductions by producers of technologies, materials and technical means as well as seed companies and nurseries."
Greenhouse cultivation is one of the areas that is evolving the most but, despite the excellent companies working in this sector, the absolute leaders remain the Netherlands and Belgium.
When it comes to protected cultivation, technology (both hardware and software) plays an essential role for production and management processes. In greenhouses, where it is possible to monitor and manage temperature, humidity, light and fertigation, technology is increasingly important. A better use of natural resources is essential, as it enables to improve water and chemical fertilizer consumption in greenhouses and because it reduces environmental impact.

The objective of the Center will be to showcase technological innovations on a display crop, but it will also serve as a training center for both the agronomic and technological part (Italian and foreign technicians, producers and operators).
The Center could also support highly-specialized international fairs and conventions together with Macfruit as well as training and internship activities in cooperation with the Agricultural Institute and the University.
