Gas supplier responsible for crop damage in Sochi greenhouses

Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Krasnodar have exceeded their authority and discontinued gas supply to a cucumber producer. The Office of the Federal Antitrust Service in Krasnodar (OFAS), have determined the party guilty in the cucumber crop failure in Sochi last year. The gas supplier company have exceeded their authority by limiting the gas supply to an agricultural company.

According to the OFAS the claim from Sochi growers came in March 2018. The producers were complaining that gas supply to the boiler, which was warming the greenhouse complex, was discontinued. The reason for that was lack of compliance of the gas meter on the premises to the State Requirements. The fact was established by the gas supplier, which exceeded their authority, reports the press service of the OFAS in Krasnodar.

In relation to the case, the special committee have established that only a certified organization and not a gas supplier can assess compliance with the State Requirements.

As a result, the OFAS in Krasnodar have issued an administrative fine to the LLC Gazprom mezhregiongas Krasnodar for the violation of the antitrust legislation in the amount of 4,000 Euro.

The regional prosecutor's office have recently been taking the side of consumers in several conflicts with the gas supplier caused by the overdue payments. The prosecutor's office have acknowledged the actions of the supplier company were not legitimate as they violated the rights of those consumers who made timely payments.
