Levity CropScience moves into Chinese market

Bilsborrow-based agronomy specialist, Levity CropScience, has secured both a partner and its first order for the Chinese market.

Sobel Crop Nutrition Co. has agreed to work as a partner and to distribute Levity’s innovative products; Lono, Indra, Sulis, Albina and Damu to growers across the country. The products will be used with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, apples and cherries in Shandong province, whilst the innovative fertilisers will be used to increase the resilience, health and size of yields of dragon fruit, oranges and banana crops in Guangdong province. The smart fertilisers will also be used in other areas of China, on crops such as; potatoes, strawberries, jujubes and grapes.

Chinese fertiliser distributor, Sobel, based in Qingdao, in Shandong province, distributes several large brands across the Chinese market. Levity’s innovative fertiliser products join the products of SQM, ADOB, Arysta, and Akzo Nobel offered by the distributor.

The decision to partner with Sobel was made following a series of visits to China by Levity CropScience Co-Managing Directors, Anna Weston and David Marks. China is the latest addition to the firm’s portfolio of export nations, which includes the USA, Egypt, Jordan and Ghana.

China is a world leader in agriculture, primarily producing rice, wheat, potatoes, tomato, sorghum, peanuts, tea, millet, barley, cotton, oilseed and soybeans. Whilst only accounting for 10 percent of arable land worldwide, China produces food for 20 percent of the world’s population.

Anna Weston, said: “Levity CropScience is excited to be offering its ground-breaking and innovative smart fertilisers to growers across China. Lono, Indra, Sulis, Albina and Damu will aid growers of a variety of crops across the country to produce healthier, more resilient and larger yields.

“Our partnership with Sobel Crop Nutrition Co. means Chinese growers will have easy access to the appropriate Levity products that will help them achieve their goals. We have already secured our first order in the country and we are positive China will develop into a key market for Levity CropScience.”
