IPM Mastery – Education for Biological control

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is one of the most important factors in crop success and has changed drastically over the years. Greenhouse growers the world over are changing their ways; chemicals are being used less and less, and biological controls are being used more. A step in the right direction, to be sure – but what are the best ways to use biologicals? They are living things – they can’t be stored on a shelf, they can’t be kept around “until needed”, they can’t be used together with just any spray treatment, they can’t clean up every pest problem 100%--can’t, can’t, can't. It’s time to learn the CAN of beneficial insects. And to that tune, Crop Defenders is stepping up to the plate.

This November, Crop Defenders are sharing their expertise with farms all over Southern Ontario through the IPM Mastery Program – an exclusive 5-day educational event that will teach growers how to save big on their bio control programs, just in time for the new growing season.

Learn all the best techniques for bio application; light levels, temperature, humidity, pest populations, integration of multiple species, life stages of the pests, chemical residues – these factors and many, many more play a major role in how effective your not-so-cheap bios will be. Learn the skills used by IPM strategists to make the best decisions for your specific needs. Learn how to work with and motivate scouts for optimal results. Conduct your own in-house quality testing. Get the knowledge you need before you start spending money on bios for your new crop, so you can maximize the outcome of every purchase.

IPM Mastery is a multi-faceted, interactive program. Subjects such as on-farm quality testing of biologicals and bee hives, strategies to control and avoid pepper weevil infestations, tips on exceptional scouting and effective cleanout practices, the unique IPM strategies used in cannabis crops, and more. The program aims to cover the main commercial crops in detail – cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and cannabis will be the main focus, with much of the information being relevant to ornamentals and other crops as well.

Join the event from November 26-30 at the Best Western Inn in Leamington, ON. Reserve your seat today as the number of attendees is limited, and ask representatives how to qualify for funding to cover up to 70% of the ticket price. If you’d like to check out more details online, visit the Crop Defenders Ltd. website or Facebook page and follow the event, and message the organizers there, call or email them for more information.
