Programme fourth EU Fresh Info Forum

Focus on impact of technology ‘tsunami’ on fresh produce sector

In the week of 28, 29 and 30 November, the EU Fresh Info Forum will take place at the World Horti Center and the HortiVERSum. This year, focus is on the ‘tsunami’ of technology that will have a major impact on the fresh produce sector. With technology companies and research institutes (Microsoft, TU Delft, the Dutch Blockchain Coalition), retail (Walmart, Jumbo), the fresh produce sector (Rijkzwaan, Capespan, Fruitmasters) and governance (Rotterdam Food Cluster, EU) we’ll present the latest developments and we’ll take a look at both the opportunities and the impact of the digital transformation.

Business Forum
The Business Forum on 29 November will consist of a number of activities meant to give entrepreneurs, managers and experts a complete overview of the developments of both individual companies and the fresh produce industry in general as a result of the increasing technological opportunities.

With thought leaders of tech companies (Agrilyst, Dutch Blockchain Coalition), retail (Jumbo), the fresh produce sector (Rijkzwaan, Capespan, NFO Fruitmasters), research (TU Delft, KU Leuven) and governance (Rotterdam Food Cluster, EU) we’ll talk about these developments and we’ll take a look at the opportunities and the impact of data management and standardisation.

Besides these presentations, there will also be panel discussions, network breaks, live drone and robot demonstrations and special tours of the World Horti Center.

Executive Forum & Walking Dinner
On Wednesday afternoon 28 November, the general meeting of GroentenFruit Huis takes place. After this meeting, the Executive Forum will start just for the members of GroentenFruit Huis. The fresh produce sector is being flooded with a ‘tsunami’ of opportunities as a result of new technological developments. The question is which opportunities this presents for the fruit and vegetable sector, and how the next level can be achieved. Prominent speakers of Microsoft, Walmart and Labbrand will answer these questions.

Technology Tour and Roundtables
During the week of the EU Fresh Info Forum, two roundtables will take place on 26 and 30 November, as well as a Technology Tour. This tour will guide you past the latest technological developments in horticulture in the Westland and surrounding area. We’ll visit Euro Pool Systems, among other places. The tour starts early in the morning and ends in time for the Executive Forum in the World Horti Center.

Locations
The Business Forum, live experiences and the information market take place in the World Horti Center: the knowledge and innovation centre of international greenhouse horticulture in the Netherlands. The roundtables are held in the HortiVERSum: the home base of GroentenFruit Huis, Frug I Com, Topsector Tuinbouw & Uitgangsmaterialen, and others.
