Bailey Farms, a shipper of specialty peppers, announced a single serving line of specialty peppers, Bailey Farms SideKicks, which the company says will make it easier for consumers to add a kick to their dishes.
SideKicks are designed to provide consumers with smaller portions - just enough for a recipe of a single dish - and encourage them to try out new flavors in their meals. Available varieties include Mini Sweets, Jalapeños, Red Chiles, Mixed Chiles, Serranos, Habaneros and Thai Chiles. With just enough for a single dish, SideKicks are meant to drive trial of unique flavors and reduce shrink through increased movement.
“We have a passion for peppers and we want to share that with consumers,” said Randy Bailey, president of Bailey Farms, Inc. “Life is experienced through food and we’d like to invite customers to learn what makes each chile pepper unique.”
SideKicks’ value-added packaging design is coordinated with Bailey Farms’ redesigned product line, color coded and labeled based on the level of heat to differentiate the items on the shelf. Each bag also includes usage suggestions and references to find recipes on the Baily Farms website. According to the company, the single serving concept is a gateway to expanding consumer awareness of specialty pepper varieties and driving sales of other Bailey specialty pepper products. Scan accuracy at the register is also improved, Bailey Farms said, in an effort to capture correct pricing and build the category through more accurate measurement.
The new product line will be featured in the PMA Fresh Innovations Showcase and at the Bailey Farms PMA Booth #762.
