A greenhouse training program has started in Osmaniye, a city located in southern Turkey and populated by Syrian immigrants. The program is funded by the United Nations Food Agriculture Organization and the training program will be held in 6 different groups. The course will last around 10 weeks and the participants will be given detailed and technical information about greenhouse production.
These courses are aimed to bring qualified Syrian immigrants into the workforce and solve shortage of labor problems in the agricultural sector. The courses have both practical and theoretical components and practical parts of the course take place in a 1 hectare greenhouse of the Institute where Syrian immigrants will learn how to grow tomato, green pepper, eggplant and cucumber.
