Kumluca town in Antalya, the center of agricultural production in Turkey, is an area known for greenhouses, with greenhouse production being the main source of income for many of the town’s residents. Most commonly grown produce in these greenhouses are tomatoes, green pepper, zucchini and cucumber.
However, a massive fire recently damaged numerous greenhouses. Growers in Kumluca are now looking to the government for assistance and relief as some of them are brought to the brink of bankruptcy due to heavy fire damage to their production facilities and produce. Growers are asking for a helping hand from the government to recoup some of their losses and survive to grow vegetables as usual.
