The Brighton Farmers Market is getting a new home.
The 10-year-old farmers market will receive $1 million in state funding to aid the development of a new, permanent home for the market near Buckland Park, Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle said Sunday.
State Sen. Joseph Robach, R-Greece, and Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle, D-Irondequoit, each secured $500,000 in capital funding for the project, Moehle said.
The Brighton Farmers Market currently runs out of the parking lot at Brighton High School, 1150 Winton Road, on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buckland Park, and the adjoining property at 1435 Westfall Road, where the market will be, is a little more than a mile away from the high school.
