International growers will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest developments in Dutch greenhouse horticulture during the HortiContact Tour on 19 and 20 February 2019. Several growing companies and knowledge centers will be visited during the excursion.
The complete program for the third edition of the HortiContact Tour is known and consists of a Practical Day and a Seminar & Exhibition Day. On the first day of the HortiContact Tour (19 February 2019) participants will visit cultivation companies and research locations. The excursion starts at 8:15 AM from Rotterdam. The first stop is at 9:00 AM at rose grower Marjoland in Waddinxveen. This is followed by a visit to Wageningen University & Research business unit Greenhouse Horticulture in Bleiswijk and Delphy Improvement Centre in Bleiswijk. After a lunch, the excursion consists of practical visits to Anthura, breeder and propagation of orchid and anthurium in Bleiswijk and pepper grower Oostland Company in Berkel en Rodenrijs.
Seminar & exhibition day
Day 2 of the HortiContact Tour takes place in Gorinchem, located 35 kilometers east of Rotterdam. At the HortiContact exhibition location researchers of Wageningen University & Research give lectures: Silke Hemming (Head scientific research team Greenhouse Technology) about ‘Diffuse light and glass’, Erik Pekkeriet (Senior Business Development Manager Agro Food Robotics) about ‘Robotics and precision greenhouse horticulture’, Feije de Zwart (Researcher Greenhouse Climate and Energy) about ‘Next generation growing’ and Jim van Ruijven (Scientific Researcher Water Technology & Emission) about ‘Water and emission’. Afterwards the participants are offered a lunch. The afternoon can be spent visiting the HortiContact fair.
Participation HortiContact Tour for free
The HortiContact Tour is an initiative of the HortiContact trade fair, Uniglobe Westland Business Travel and In Greenhouses magazine. Thanks to the support of various sponsors, participation in the HortiContact Tour is free of charge. International growers have to take care of their trip to the Netherlands and hotel stays themselves. However, interested parties can make use of a hotel offer and transfers from and to the airport through the organization.
