Danes research greenhouse grow lamps

A year ago, Dansk Gartneri made industry-wide agreements with Energistyrelsen (the Danish Energy Council). These agreements were with regard to a number of select horticultural companies who, together, represent a considerable portion of the Danish greenhouse acreage.

Part of the agreement was that Dansk Gartneri, a horticultural industry interest group, would do research into the use of energy in the horticultural sector. One of the areas the study focused on was the use of grow lamps in greenhouses. To this end, Dansk Gartneri entered into a partnership with Lillegaard Teknik. This company has years of experience regarding energy use in the horticultural sector.

The researchers looked at, among other places, the Netherlands. Here, much experience has been gained with grow lamps. It quickly became clear the many plant and vegetable growers use LED lamps. Growers who want to invest in LED, do well first to determine which level of light and light spectrum is suited for them. They must then experiment with these until they find the perfect fit.

The research reports could be of interest to interested growers. For more information, contact Lillegaard Teknik.
