Since June 2018 cannabis has been authorized in Canada and parts of the United States. This means that cannabis can be grown regularly for use in the medical and recreational sector. Universities in Canada and the United States have contacted Delphy because they need knowledge development and practical information for growers for this relatively new crop.
In the Netherlands, no decision has been taken yet to permit the cultivation of Cannabis. The ‘commission Knottnerus’ has offered advice to Minister Grapperhaus of Justice and Security and Minister Bruins of Medical Care and Sport for a closed coffee-shop chain. If this advice is accepted, cultivation trials will be set up in the Netherlands. Much can still be done to improve cannabis cultivation from a technical perspective. Better cultivation techniques would contribute to a more homogenous quality, making the product more reliable. Delphy has a head start in the knowledge-development of this sector, as the cultivation of Cannabis has many similarities with chrysanthemum cultivation.
Delphy has put together a team of specialists for this crop. They will supervise the Canadian University in the development of knowledge and will also carry out the cultivation supervision of Dutch growers.
