Russia: New greenhouse complex opened in Voronezh region

Mr. Aleksander Gusev, who is temporarily acting as a governor of the Voronezh region, has taken part in opening the greenhouse complex of LLC Rodina in the Semiluki area. It is the only greenhouse complex with year-round cultivation in the region. The opening ceremony was conducted on July 13.

The complex of 32 ha is located on the territory of a collective farm, Gremkolodezniy. It is aimed at growing tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce on the basis of small volume technology. The complex is equipped with all the contemporary equipment and automated systems, controlling the mineral nutrition and microclimate.

The first phase of the investment project was completed in spring of 2018. 118 thousand tomato bushes have been planted. It is expected that the annual production volume will amount to 36.6 thousand tons of tomatoes and 209 tons of lettuce. The first crops will be collected in August 2018.

“We are used to the fact that a lot of enterprises are open in various spheres. But the greenhouse complex is a new niche that will hopefully play a valuable role in the economics of the region”, noted Mr. Gusev. “I think the project will be a success not only for the Voronezh region but also for the whole of the Russian Federation”.
