China: The sixteenth edition of the Guangdong seed exhibition
On the morning of December 12th, the main area of the sixteenth edition of the Guangdong seed exhibition, and the small village area of the seed industry, opened their doors at the same time. They exhibited over 20,000 high quality product varieties. Apart from such standard crops as gourds and leafy vegetables, this year there were additional distinguished crops such as fruit trees, tea plants, flowering plants, and edible fungi.
Participant products in the exhibition
In the category of winter melons alone there were five or six varieties ranging from small to large. In addition there were brands exhibited with such appropriate names as the Little Treasure winter melon, the Little Baby winter melon, the Powdered Treasure winter melon, and the Iron General winter melon. According to traders, presentations of these varieties of small and large winter melons satisfy the demand of various kinds of customers. The small ones are suitable for use at home, while large ones like the 90 cm long Iron General are suitable for businesses and factories.
Participant products in the exhibition
Although the Guangzhou seed industry village participated for the first time in this exhibition, in comparison with the main area, their exhibition was still too extensive to visit everything in time. In this area the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences prepared many varieties of mini water melon for visitors to sample. Apart from round water melons, there were also oval water melons in this range of mini water melons. Furthermore, there were water melons with yellow, pink, or orange flesh. According to the presentations, farmers harvest these mini water melons with delight, because they look small and exquisite, and hang down like small bells.
Participant products in the exhibition
This time the promotion of Guangdong agricultural technology in the main area of the seed exhibition included two buildings and ten exhibition areas. It covered 500,000 square meters and included over 6,000 national and international, high quality, new products, as well as over 30 agricultural proprietors who promoted their technology.
