Kazakhstan: Agro-science development until 2020

Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gulmira Isayeva said in a government meeting that in the period from 2018 to 2020, 12.6 billion tenge is envisaged to be spend on development of agrarian science in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan nowadays pays much attention to the development of agrarian science. The domestic agrarian science however does not have sufficiently strong ties with business. Isayeva expects that in the three-year perspective the financing will be carried out in 21 priority directions of development of agrarian science.

“In general, the financing of science for the next 3 years is 12.6 billion tenge, which is about 4.2 billion annually. But in order to increase the efficiency of our agricultural science a greater participation of our business is needed,” Gulmira Isayeva emphasized.

In addition, at the briefing, she spoke about the use of innovative technologies presented at the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 in the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan.

“In order to select the most interesting and new technologies, the Agriculture Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan set up a working group which has repeatedly participated in seminars, B2B meetings on presentations of advanced technologies in agriculture area.”

At the EXPO-2017 66 new technologies for agriculture were presented from 15 countries, amongst which the Netherlands.
