NL: First basil harvest from new hydroponic greenhouse
The harvest of the first basil in the new Kruidenaer greenhouse has been realised. After working on the construction for almost a year, the time is finally here.
The Kruidenaer works on 25 hectares with 1 hectare of tunnel greenhouse and now 5 hectares of glass. On December 19 2016 the construction of this newest greenhouse was started (1 ha). The first brick was laid by three generations. After a long frost period the foundation was laid on January 31. At the start of March 2017 the first windows were placed. In mid April the ponds were dug and then they worked to prepare everything for the first basil plants. At the end of August the first plants were floated.
In the new greenhouse they consciously opted for the newest techniques. Diffuse glass, hybrid lighting and air humidity are important changes to grow the best quality basil.
