AmericanHort support for Harvey victims

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of people displaced and impacted by the flooding in the Gulf Coast. The devastation is vast and families and communities will be disrupted for many months", AmericanHort writes in a message of support on their website.

At AmericanHort, they are working with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association and other industry partners to identify Green Industry businesses impacted by the flooding. In the coming weeks, as the extent of the damage is assessed, they hope to be able to identify specific ways we can work together to support the people and the businesses as they recover and rebuild.

In the meantime, they urge all AmericanHort members and industry partners to consider making a financial donation to a recognized relief organization with resources on the ground in the Gulf Coast. You can make a donation as small as $10 and giving is as simple as sending a text message.

Three organizations to consider are:
  • The American Red Cross accepting donations on its website. You can also text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10.
  • The United Way of Greater Houston flood relief fund will be used to help with immediate needs as well as long-term services like minor home repair. Visit their website to donate or text UWFLOOD to 41444.
  • Donations to the Salvation Army can be made online, by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769) or texting STORM to 51555.
