13 ha Maranello with Odysseus rootstock

Dutch grower starts with grafted peppers on large scale

This winter, Dutch propagator Globe Plant has grafted a large batch of pepper plants. Globe Plant has been grafting pepper plants on a small scale but never before for more than 13 hectares.

Rob Damen of Globe Plant explained that their client choose for a Maranello scion and a Odysseus rootstock.

The grafting of bell pepper plants is done in the same way as with tomato plants, but is far more care-intensive. Crop specialist Thijs: "In terms of cultivation techniques the scion and rootstock grow together very fast. Therefore, the cultivation of grafted pepper plants is a special job, you can not compare it with grafted tomato plants or ungrafted pepper plants."
