Argentina blueberries ramp up within the next week

The Argentinean blueberry deal is underway. Harvest started about three weeks ago. “Little product is coming in at the moment, but volumes will ramp up within the next 7-10 days,” says Bob Von Rohr with Sunny International. Quality has been excellent. All our blueberries from Argentina are flown into Miami. “The country doesn’t have the logistic capabilities for sea shipment like Chile has,” said Von Rohr.

It was a normal growing season. “Harvest started about a week to 10 days earlier than normal and will likely finish up a little earlier as well,” shared Von Rohr. Argentina’s blueberry harvest is expected to finish at the end of November, early December.

According to Von Rohr, the country has a nice window of supply. “They start after Michigan has wrapped up its blueberry production and Chile doesn’t start until early December.” As a result, prices are higher this time of the year.
