AU: New biosecurity dogs ready to get to work

For around a year now, Sam and Mollie, Quarantine WA's new biosecurity detector dogs, have been training to find fresh fruit, vegetables, plant material, honey and seeds on passengers at the Perth Domestic Airport, reports abc.net.au.

The newcomers will replace two retiring dogs, Oscar and Charlie-Brown

Western Australia's new Minister for Agriculture, Mark Lewis, officially gave Sam his working coat, saying Quarantine WA's detector dogs are a critical part of Western Australia's competitive advantage when it comes to exports.

"I'm very happy to be here today to put the stripes on Sam. Having just recently got my own stripes I can sympathise with Sam on getting his new badge."
