US: Recent floods in Louisiana 'not devastating'

“We did get a great deal of rain, but we didn’t suffer extensive damage,” said Ken Thornhill of Thornhill Farms in Wisner, Louisiana. “We seem to have been sitting in a little hole as far as the rain was concerned. Other areas in south Louisiana did suffer fair damage. Still, in the northeastern part of Louisiana, severe damage was spotty. It’s going to take some time to determine the true extent,” noted Thornhill.

“Our area, which is in east-central Louisiana on the Macon Ridge, was hit with lesser amounts of rain. We presently are harvesting and are quite satisfied. The sweet potatoes are of good quality coming from our fields. So, cross your fingers and knock on wood, we’ll continue to get our produce out to the market.”
