Hall B7 - Stand 121 at Macfrut

Arrigoni presents three different agrotextiles for the protection of berries

Extreme weather phenomena such as hailstorms, increase of temperatures and UV rays and the fact that consumers seem to be increasingly interested in produce with lower chemical residues, make particularly necessary the investments in an effective protection of berries.

In addition, such crops require high investments per hectare for the purchase of plants, high-tech irrigation systems, mulching films, etc., making them quite an expensive option.

Protection against hail is the first investment to be made when growing berries, as hail would damage the existing productions as well as the new buds.

Studies showed that protecting berries (blueberries) with Fructus 2.6/3 NE net also produces other benefits:
  • Temperatures are 2°C lower, so fruit is bigger and with a better chemical composition.
  • No sunburn due to summer radiation. In some areas, this would lead to losing 30% of the crop. The 18% shading provided by Fructus 2.6/3 NE net is the perfect compromise without causing problems and delays in ripening.
  • Protection against birds, who favour blueberries because of the high vitamin E content for their eyesight.
In order to help plants grow, eliminate weeds and guarantee root transpiration, we recommend installing the Agritela Nera mulching film, which is available in different sizes.

It is common knowledge that berries are the favourite of Drosophila Suzukii and that the pesticides available on the market are not very effective. In addition, the fact that the insect also attacks ripe fruit makes it impossible to use chemical control, as it would mean using pesticides until a few days before harvesting.

Biorete 25 Mesh netting, developed in cooperation with renowned research centres in Italy, completely blocks the attacks to ripening fruit and allows to grow a healthier product while respecting the environment. They can be installed on open fields or on protected crops.

Arrigoni and its sales team will welcome you at Macfrut in Rimini (Hall B7 - Stand 121) to present their innovations in the Agrotextile sector, particularly regarding anti-insect, anti-hail, wind and sun protection nets as well as reflective mulching films.
