UK veg prices returning to normal
"There are healthy supplies across all sectors," according to Wilf Whittle from Sharrocks Fresh. "Although there is a minor gap in production of green caps. Produce from Holland is still relatively expensive, mainly due to the exchange rate situation. Peppers are relatively expensive, tomatoes are about average and cucumbers are coming down daily."
Sharrocks Fresh imported more peppers from Poland when supply was low and according to Wilf there are still very good volumes coming through. "The quality is excellent and the price is very competitive."
"All colours of peppers are currently available and many wholesalers understand the situation and they are working closely with us by pre-ordering bigger volumes to overcome the logistical issues," explains Wilf.
UK demand is good for both Dutch and Polish peppers.
