India: Horticulture sector sees growth in automation

Last weekend India's largest Exhibition on Agriculture, Farm Machinery, Dairy, Poultry, Livestock Equipment & Agri Processing Technologies took place at the BIEC exhibition centre in Bangalore, India. Also Alessandro Mazzacano of Italian horticultural Machinery developper Urbinati was present at the AgriTech in order to catch up with their local partners.

Of the partners of Urbinati is Rajeeb Kumar Roy of Agriplast. Rajeeb launched his online marketplace Agrihub India last year. "With Agrihub we have created a portal that basically everybody can join and that will direct you to whatever you need: whether you are looking for a gerbera grower or a greenhouse builder, everybody in the Indian sector is included and can be found there."

Also Urbinati's solutions are available on Agrihub and via Agriplast India. "The Indian horticultural and agricultural market is developping very fast", said Alessandro. "Especially in the vegetable sector. Thanks to the support of the Indian Government, automation and mechanisation increases in agriculture, nursery and greenhouse production. We are present in India for the last 4 years now and have established a very good presence since."
