Kenya: Holland Pavilion at the Eldoret Agribusiness Fair

The Eldoret Agribusiness 2015 in Kenya was a great success and therefore the Netherlands Embassy will again be present with a Holland Pavilion this year. The Fair will take place from the 22nd – 24th of September. The Holland Pavilion will showcase Dutch products & technology; notably in dairy, aquaculture, horticulture, potatoes and farm mechanisation.

The Main Pavilion
At the main pavilion you will find over 30 companies representing the entire value chain of the dairy, aquaculture, horticulture & potato sector. Potatoes will feature prominently at the fair. The pavilion is in the middle of demo plots with different varieties of seed potatoes planted by the Kenya/Netherlands Seed Potato Development Project. Here you can see the growth of seed potatoes and live harvesting. Furthermore, relevant products around mechanisation, storage, processing, logistics, agronomic services, etc. are represented.

The Seminar Tent
Different companies will pitch and share the technologies they are using at the Seminar Tent. They will talk about the challenges they face and how they overcome them. The program is currently in the final stages of drafting and will be published here soon.

The Food Court
Food Insecurity is a global issue and has many causes. The Netherlands, using its expertise in agriculture is very committed to end Food Insecurity in the World and aims to solve this by targeting very specific causes. One of them is to increase food production by growing the right product in each local context. In Kenya for example, the aim is to stimulate the production of certain types of potatoes that grow well here and have a higher yield and use less/ no pesticides.
