New CHP and light installation for Dutch propagator Hollandplant

Dutch propagator Hollandplant has invested in sustainable energy management; a CHP was recently installed at the nursery in Bergschenhoek.

In recent months they’ve also been working hard to increase the lighting level on nine hectares of greenhouses to 7000 lux. The old installation was replaced by a new one. "The cultivation of vegetable plants requires heavier lighting. The increased power demand this involves will be delivered by the new CHP. The Jenbacher, with a capacity of 2.7 mW, was inaugurated last week. The CHP will also contribute to the heat consumption at Hollandplant.

CHP is a very efficient technology. More than 90% of the energy produced is reused for the greenhouse and does not disappear into the atmosphere. It goes without saying that the new CHP at Hollandplant fully complies with the decree on emission requirements for all new and existing combustion plants since January 1, 2017.

By also installing a new, extensive UV disinfection system, Hollandplant has set itself up for the future. Hollandplant is one of the three plant nurseries of Wayland Plants, established in Bergschenhoek.
