Competition
For 120 years now, the traditional Berlin wholesale market has supplied the stores, markets and restaurants in Berlin. About 300 companies are located at the market. They handle around 580,000 metric tons annually, of which 1/3 are fresh fruits and vegetables. An advantage of the Berlin wholesale market could be the continued specialization of the traders.
The new Hamberger wholesale market sells exclusively to commercial trade customers, just as the traditional market. Ultimate customers can’t shop at the market.
