Average prices hovered around €1/kg, "which was very good for Dutch producers, who last year had to deal with prices below production costs."
"Cuori Rossi" vine tomatoes are one of Cherry Passion's flagship produces. The company also sells products under the VDN brand.
Even though the cold season has arrived, the Netherlands continue to produce winter bunch tomatoes, which are ripened using LED lamps. "This means we can continue supplying produce until April, when we will start once again with open field produce. Of course prices are higher in winter due to the production costs - they can reach €2/kg."
"November has always been a difficult month. Christmas is the only period when things start to get livelier, but it does not last long. The real problem though is the warm temperatures, which led to a lack of consumption in general. This in turn slowed down the imports of Spanish California peppers, which should replace the Dutch ones. Prices are a little over €1/kg. It depends a lot on the Italian weather, and especially on the Spanish weather. We are waiting for the cold temperatures to arrive, hoping they can push consumption."
