Ukraine: Embassy of Netherlands organizes Greenhouse Industry Fair and Gardners Club Horticultural Fair 2016 in Kiev

Traditionally, the VI Holland-Ukrainian greenhouse forum will be held on the first day of the exhibition Greenhouses Industry and Gardeners Club on February 23, 2016. The Forum is organized by the Embassy of Netherlands in Ukraine. This year, significant adjustments to established system of the Ukrainian producers of fruits and vegetables are made by the outside world. And not all the representatives of large and medium-sized fruit and vegetable business were able to adapt to the new "rules of the game" quickly and successfully. After analyzing the situation in Ukraine the organizers of the VI Holland-Ukrainian greenhouse forum took as a basis the following questions:

1. What are the components of a successful export strategy of greenhouse production?
2. What motivates greenhouses to be certified according to international standards?
3. Are energy-saving technologies available for manufacturers?
4. Is cooperation possible in the greenhouse sector? Holland experience.

The program is prepared, according to interests of greenhouse complexes and manufacturers of fruits and vegetables in greenhouses with an area from 0.5 hectares.

Also the Organizing Committee of industrial trade fairs, Greenhouse Industry and Gardeners Club 2016 enlisted the support and discussed cooperation with the Ukrainian Business Horticulture Development Project (UPBRP) www.uhbdp.org which is surely known for many Ukrainian players of greenhouse industry and commercial horticulture. The second phase of the Project with Ukrainian agro manufacturers was started in March 2015. The project is implemented in Ukraine by Mennonite Economic Development Association (MEDA, Canada) with financial support of the government of Canada (DFATD) based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Canada due to the Canadian cooperation program from 24.10.1994 in partnership with the Israel Center of International Cooperation MASHAV.
The Project worked in Zaporozhye region from 2008 to 2013. And the result of this work was to increase productivity and areas of small and medium agro manufacturers engaged in the cultivation of strawberries, raspberries, grapes and vegetables in greenhouses. Now the project is being considered for seven years starting from 2015 in Zaporozhye, Kherson, Nikolaev and Odessa regions.
