Syngenta in tie-up talks to shake up sector

In an interview with the Financial Times, Syngenta chairman Michel Demaré says the company is actively considering deals with rival companies. The Swiss company, after having refused a takeover bid by Monsanto, is looking to combine its strength in crop chemicals with other groups’ leading positions in agricultural seeds.



Demaré points to Monsanto and Dupont's Pioneer as leaders in the industry, and says that the “winning company in the future will be the one that can combine these two strengths and have an integrated offer.”
