A four-day special training programme was organized on “Advances in Production Technology of Horticultural Crops” for officials, sponsored by the Department of Horticulture of Karnataka at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR) from November 03-06, 2015. The objective of the programme was to impart training on Advances in Production Technology of Horticultural Crops for horticulture officers and LRPs.
18 participants, representing five taluks (Nanjangudu, Hunasuru, K. R. Nagara, H. D. Kote and Mysore) of the Mysore District in Karnataka participated in the program. The participants provided training on advances in production technology of selected fruit crops, vegetables, ornamental crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, production of quality planting material in commercial horticultural crops, protected cultivation of high value horticultural crops, quality vegetable seedling production techniques under shade net and polyhouse, handling, packing, storage and processing of horticulture crops, design and fabrication of greenhouse structures/machineries and market linkage. Included in the program were lectures, discussion sessions, visits to polyhouses, demonstration units, experimental plots etc.
The trainees were satisfied with the program and expressed that they had learnt many scientific management practices to implement.
