Candyland Red, the new PanAmerican Seed tomato variety, becomes available for immediate sale to the commercial market, following the announcement that it has won national award recognition from All-America Selections (AAS). Brokers and growers can purchase seed immediately, and retailers and consumers will find this winner for sale for the 2016 gardening season.
In its latest round of 2016 AAS winner announcements this week, the independent testing organization listed Candyland Red among the new varieties that were trialed during 2015 throughout North America and exhibited outstanding garden performance.
Tomato Candyland Red is the only AAS award winning currant-type tomato. According to the PanAmerican Seed vegetable breeding team, gardeners will appreciate the dark red, sweet flavored fruit. The tomato plant itself has a nice tidier habit than other currant-type plants with the fruit tending to form on the outside of the plant, making them easier to harvest.
