Kenya: Women in Kisii encouraged to venture into greenhouse farming

Kisii Governor James Ongwae has challenged women to venture into greenhouse farming technologies to enhance food security and sustainability both at household and county levels.

Ongwae observed that with diminishing land sizes in the region it was critical for women who play a crucial role in agricultural productivity in the region to be introduced to new innovative farming technologies such as intensive greenhouse farming technologies to ensure there is adequate food production.

Speaking on Sunday at Gusii Stadium during a funds drive in aid of Kisii County Maendeleo Ya Wanawake, Ongwae disclosed that the challenge posed by diminishing land sizes in the region had prompted his administration to champion for modern food production technologies which are scientifically proven to boost the county's food security situation and maximise value of the existing land space.
