NL: Financial performance vegetables

"Plants and vegetable cultivation from a financial perspective" was the central theme of the visit of employees of De Ruiter (Monsanto) to the central propagation center of Beekenkamp Plants in Maasdijk in the Netherlands.

Many efforts are made by plant cultivation companies like Beekenkamp to offer the producer the best possible end product in terms of raw material, to ensure as much financial return as possible. The greatest financial risk for a nursery is an outbreak of a virus or bacterial infection. To guarantee both as much as possible, proper hygiene protocols are crucial.

The group, consisting mainly of representatives of the European financial departments under the leadership of Edwin Edwards, Global Vegetables and Asia Finance Lead, visited Beekenkamp to focus on the profitability of cultivation. Frank Vriends, Sales Manager Beekenkamp, explained the working methods within the Beekenkamp group, focusing on market trends and high risks. The openness and transparency on both sides was greatly appreciated by both parties.

After the impressive presentation of the Beekenkamp group and the subsequent discussions between the attendees, the team was given a tour of the Beekenkamp greenhouses, where De Ridder varieties could be seen.
