Europe: 52nd crop rotation for Van Veldhoven

Contractor Van Veldhoven from De Lier is gearing up for his 52nd crop rotation. Dennis van Veldhoven: "The machines and the people are ready to empty the greenhouses, to clean and disinfect."

Last week they cleared six hectares of tomatoes under artificial lighting at Solyco in Bleiswijk. Within a day, everything lay scattered outside. Then the rockwool was removed and the greenhouse disinfected. This was done with the disinfecting agent on the customer's request. Formalin, Huwa-San and Hydrocare are common disinfectants. On high-days 15-20 people work in the crop rotation for Van Veldhoven. Most are experienced freelancers who come back every year.

Van Veldhoven has three owners. The brothers Dennis (planning and administration), John (ground and shovel work) and Marcel (customer visits and spraying) are at the helm of this family business. Their customers are located from the Westland and Middenmeer up to Terneuzen and Germany.
