US (TX): Agencies to conduct pesticide training in Menard on Oct. 7
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Menard County Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct an educational training on pesticides from 8 a.m.-3:25 p.m. Oct. 7.
The training will be at the Murchison-Whitehead Complex on U.S. Highway 190 in Menard.
Lisa Brown, AgriLife Extension agent in Menard County, said the program will touch on a variety of topics. Those will include pollinators and pesticides, pesticide laws and regulations, prescribed fire and pesticides, minimizing drift and using drones in brush control and agriculture.
“Along with some very topical information, we’ll be awarding five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units for those completing the training,” she said. The units will be three in the general category and one each in the drift and laws and regulations categories.
“The Texas Department of Agriculture requires private applicators to acquire 15 continuing education units in specific categories within five years from the time the license is issued. This program offers an excellent way to earn five of those units.”
Individual registration is $25 or $35 per couple. The fees include lunch. For more information and to RSVP by Oct. 5, call 325-396-4708 or 325-396-4787.
