4-7 November, 2015: agrifood and horticulture trade mission to Nigeria

Big potential for Dutch horticulture development in Nigeria

FME and NABC (in corporation with RVO) organize a trade mission to Lagos, Nigeria. Participation at the Agrikexpo Trade Fair is part of the program. The tailor made and matchmaking-oriented program gives you an excellent opportunity to further expand your business to the largest economy of Africa:

“One of the countries on the continent with the most opportunities for commercial agriculture.” - KPMG Country Report, 2015 Q1.

The largest horticulture and agrofood expo of West-Africa takes place in the biggest and most prestigious conference building in Nigeria: the Eko Convention Centre on Victoria Island in Lagos. Besides participating in this fair, the mission is dedicated to:
  • Participation at Agrikexpo through Holland Lounge
  • Individual Matchmaking
  • Company visits
  • Networking reception in cooperation with the Netherlands embassy

During the the Agrikexpo-fair the following concurrent events take place:
  • FoodBext West Africa, food & beverage expo,

“The largest economy in Africa and the 26th largest in the world, with GDP of $510 billion […] Only 14% of GDP is from resources, with retail and wholesale trade the biggest drivers of GDP growth” - Mckinsey on Nigeria, 2014.

After the (peaceful) election, the new elected President Buhari demonstrated that diversification and improvement of the Nigerian agrisector has top priority on his political agenda. Potential for growth is seen in the following segments:
  • Quality seeds and propagation materials
  • Inputs such as: Fertilizer, Animal feed, Animal health
  • Supply (products and technology) to local Fruit & Vegetable Chains
  • Agritechnology (mechanization)
  • Food Processing technology
“Wide-ranging reforms in the agricultural and power sectors are ongoing. Agricultural reforms are centred on improving the distribution of fertilisers, a scrapping of import duties on agricultural equipment, and easier access to credit for farmers.” – KPMG Country Report, 2015, Q1
