Rocket strikes Israeli greenhouse

According to the website Ynet, a rocket launched at southern Israel from Gaza landed on a greenhouse on Monday morning. As the rocket was believed to be heading for an unpopulated area, it did not trigger Israel's rocket warning system.

Israeli greenhouse grower Eran Dotan was shocked when he noticed that a rocket had hit the center of his greenhouse, causing severe damage to his crops and structure. No injuries were reported. At the time of the attack, no workers were present in the greenhouse. According to Dotan, it was the second time that a rocket has struck his greenhouses.

Rockets strike greenhouses in this area quite frequently, as the Iron Dome defense missiles only intercept rockets that are heading for populated areas. That is why many Israeli greenhouse growers have installed concrete bunkers near their greenhouses.

Last year, the Israeli government purchased 120 of these protective concrete bunkers which were deployed to protect farmers in open areas like greenhouses, but also fields, packing and sorting houses.
