Canada: Alberta workshops take a closer look at horticulture

The Explore Horticulture workshop will take place at three different times and locations in September 2015. “Horticulture is a broad and diverse industry full of opportunities,” says Dustin Morton, commercial horticulture specialist Alberta Ag-Info Centre, Stettler. “This workshop will look at different methods of production and marketing with Agriculture and Forestry specialists.”

The agenda is identical for each of the three workshops. Each will consist of a half-day in the classroom, followed by a tour of local farmers' markets and producer operations.

Dates and locations are as follows:

  • September 12 - Grande Prairie Provincial Building
  • September 19 - Red Deer Recreation Centre, Sportsman’s Room
  • September 26 - Lethbridge Exhibition Park, Saddle Room

Start time for each workshop is 8:30 a.m. Cost is $15 + GST per person including lunch. To register, call 1-800-387-6030 FREE.

Funding for this event is provided through Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
