The varieties are high quality and result from the hard breeding work carried out at Rijk Zwaan. This in turn means producers can always choose the right variety based on their different needs.
"We wanted to share not only our existing range, but also the new varieties for the next season. For the development of the new tomatoes, we focused on high yields, great quality and good resistances - we care about the needs of producers," explains Massimo Peboni, Crop Specialist at Rijk Zwaan Italia. Together with area sales manager Francesco Caporini and trial officer Federico Demin, he welcomed over 100 people.
Guests were particularly interested in the new bunch and cherry varieties.
As regards cherry tomatoes, there was a lot of interest for the Pirandello RZ variety, which has very uniform bunches and excellent colour. There was also 74-118 RZ, which has a Brix level comparable to that of plum tomatoes.
72-194 RZ was presented in the midi-plum segment. It is a new 35 gram "cocktail-plum" with great consistency and uniformity.
In the mini-plum segment, the varieties were Idolini RZ, a mini San Marzano with a unique shape, and 74-119 RZ, a new and exclusive product.
