US (OR): Farwest show puts edibles center stage in this year’s Growers Showcase

Reflecting the ongoing consumer rush toward Edibles, the 2015 Farwest Show is dedicating its entire Growers Showcase exhibit to Edibles at the upcoming Show. With its theme of ‘Edible Delights’, the Growers Showcase is a show within a show and gives attendees a concentrated look at aspects of the industry that impact growers now and into the future. Consumer demand for ‘grow you own’ continues to expand and growers are responding with breakthroughs in breeding and intense focus on the spectrum of edibles, including vegetables, fruits, and herbs.

The Growers Showcase, sponsored this year by Macore, tag and label producer, is a forum for the latest in varieties and applications such as raised beds and patio containers. It is also an opportunity for displays of exciting ways growers and, consequently, retailers, are connecting with consumers in branding and packaging in-store. New introductions and ‘hot’ sellers in vegetables, patio fruits, and herbs will be included. Attendees will be able to connect with Farwest exhibitors participating in the Showcase to secure bookings for any and all being shown. A slate of speakers and topics will add to the plant displays for in-depth insight on horticulture’s hottest segment.

“You can’t overstate the impact the edibles trend is having on the industry,” said Allan Niemi, director of events at the Oregon Association of Nurseries, producers of the Farwest Show. “We think it’s timely and relevant to devote this year’s Showcase to the latest and greatest of edibles. Growers, and retailers alike, will find something here to take home and capitalize on.”
