Netherlands: Naktuinbouw & Wageningen University Plant Variety Protection Course 2016
The 19th Plant Variety Protection Course will be held from June 13th till June 24th 2016 in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Participants who wish to qualify for a scholarship through Nuffic must register before 20 October 2015.
Course Framework
The foundation for successful global expansion and export in the field of agriculture and horticulture is the protection of your plant varieties. Since not all countries have a legal framework in which plant varieties are protected under a system of intellectual property rights, this can lead to illegal exploitation. Naktuinbouw has developed the Plant Variety Protection Course to underline the importance of Plant Breeders’ Rights in these countries.
UPOV Principles
This course, which is given in English, is based on the UPOV principles. It focuses on the implementation of plant variety protection in countries where legislation is being developed, has recently been adopted, or in countries that are considering developing a system.
