Reinier Janssen and Gebr. Van der Lelij
"Maldonado is fast colored and remains on weight"
On the 18th of June, Enza Zaden organised a Maldonado tour. A lot of people were interested to see this type at Dutch growers Reinier Janssen and Gebr. Van der Lelij. At this point there is a total of 35ha Maldonado, 3,3ha at Reinier Janssen and two times 3,85ha at Gebr. Van der Lelij.
The choice of these two companies was coincidental. Breed specialist Frank Duijndam: "These two companies differ in breed system and sowing data. It makes it more interesting to come and visit. Reinier Jansen had sown and had settlement before from the 5th axil, while van der Lelij held setting from the 2nd axil. Earlier, but limited load is better for this type. It allows more equality in the settlement pattern and production."
Sufficiently powerful
Maldonado appears to be sufficiently powerful for settlement. Both breeders find Maldonado a fast coloured type and it stays on a good weight. For the ones that missed the Maldonado tour: contact Enza Zaden for more information.
