On the initiative of Wageningen UR Horticulture, suppliers in horticulture have joined forces to contribute to the continuity of the Dutch applied strategic research for greenhouses. The initiative, with the working title "Club of 100," is open to all suppliers of materials and software in horticulture.
Due to the disappearance of the collective financing of innovation-driven research through Productschap Tuinbouw, the development of knowledge has come under strong pressure. This involves research with a time horizon of 5 to 10 years for introduction in practice, research that is also called applied strategic research.
Growers and growers' organizations have now come together to prevent the flow of knowledge and innovations from drying up. Wageningen UR Horticulture has also taken up the challenge by developing an initiative that allows suppliers to greenhouse horticulture to contribute to the continuity of the applied strategic research in the Netherlands.
