New international R&D centre for Koppert Biological Systems

Koppert Biological Systems began work on the construction of a new, international R&D centre in October. The centre, which is being built next to the head office in Berkel en Rodenrijs – the Netherlands, will soon offer space to the rapidly-growing Research & Development department. The new centre will also contribute to international cooperation between the entomology and microbiology disciplines.

Koppert's construction of this 3,600-m2 centre marks the next step in the centralization of the company's various business divisions: the new R&D centre will also provide accommodation for the entomology laboratory, which is currently housed in another building in Berkel en Rodenrijs that cannot be extended. The new centre will be equipped with a large number of modern climate-controlled chambers for research into natural enemies under a range of climatic conditions.

The entomology laboratory will be located close to the microbiological products laboratory. This will result in more national and international exchanges of knowledge between the entomology and microbiology departments in the development of integrated cultivation systems.

'Partners with Nature'

Koppert's investments of large amounts of funds in R&D are reflected in the powerful international reputation of the company's research departments. Much of Koppert's research work ultimately results in solutions for crop health and crop protection issues. The company's efforts have, for example, resulted in the adoption of the use of natural enemies as the standard in European protected horticulture.

Koppert Biological Systems, the global leader in its market, intends to cooperate with growers and nature in making a contribution to the health of planet and people. This is also the reason for Koppert's adoption of the new 'Partners with Nature' tagline. Koppert possesses a great deal of specialized knowledge and offers a range of products that offer a natural means of improving the health, resilience, and productivity of numerous crops.
